Since 1995, Thomas Narten has been working for IBM in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina on TCP/IP and Internetworking technologies. He has contributed to a number of IETF activities and in particular to the IPng effort. Since 1997, he has been an IETF Area Director in the Internet Area. He also holds an adjunct faculty position at Duke University, where he occasionally teaches a graduate-level networking course.
Prior to joining IBM (1989-94), he was on the faculty of the Computer Science Department at SUNY-Albany. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University.
